The Jasper-Lake Sam Rayburn Chamber of Commerce established the Texas Scholars Luncheon in 1992 as part of a statewide effort to encourage high school students to take higher-level curriculum courses in order to better prepare them for college and the work force.
Each spring, the Chamber honors the students who have achieved that goal with a recognition luncheon. Businesses and members of our community adopt one or more scholars, treat them to lunch and receive recognition at the luncheon.
The students really enjoy this luncheon, but as a sponsor you receive the greatest reward - sharing time with the youth of our community. It is thrilling to see what successful, goal oriented students our school system produces.
